Meet the founder

Christina Burton, the heart and hands behind Positive I.

Christina with her family.

Mother, massage therapist, aerialist, and the warm heart of a whole circus family. Christina has spent her life making room for people to feel safe, seen, and wonderfully alive.

A Chico State graduate who grew up in Monterey, she fell in love with healing work young and dreamed of building a wellness center where anyone could walk in carrying the weight of the world and walk out feeling lighter, braver, and more themselves. She opened Positive I at just 26, pregnant with her first child, and has been holding that door open ever since.

Ask her students and they'll tell you: Christina is the one who learns your name on day one, celebrates every wobbly first attempt like a victory, and makes sure nobody, kid or grown-up, ever feels left out of the magic. Whether she's teaching someone to fly on silks, easing away years of tension on her massage table, or gathering the whole circus family for a show, her mission never changes: hope, support, love, and a sense of home for everyone who walks in.

In her words

“I was on a mission to create a healing wellness center for people to build self-confidence, feel their beauty, and let go of the comparison and expectations of the pressured world.”        -With love, Christina Burton

and the story keeps growing...

The people holding the space with us.

Christina started it, and the circle has been growing ever since. These are the teachers sharing the room, the mat and the hammocks with us, one class at a time.

Meet Storrie!

Aerial Yoga Teacher

Storrie’s aerial journey began at Positive-i, when she was just 14. Drawn to something she had never seen before, she discovered a practice that helped her build confidence, feel at home in her body, and find her voice.

What started as a search for a hobby and community became a journey of strength, connection, and learning to trust herself. Aerial taught her the beauty of letting go, and that she deserves to take up space, even when trying something new.

Storrie has since trained at Levity Aerial Yoga in San Luis Obispo and completed Positive-i’s Level 1 Aerial Yoga Instructor Training, bringing her personal experience and instructor education into her teaching.

Now, she’s excited to help others discover their own strength, embrace being a beginner, and experience the joy of finding their wings.

Storrie at Positive-i

“I wanted to provide hope, support, love, and a sense of home to our circus family.”

That is why, just two months after the fire, she opened her doors again. For Christina, Positive I was never only a business. It is a home where people heal from the inside out through movement, shared experiences, and laughter.

The Positive I journey, place by place

From a first little studio in Chico to the lounge on Birch St, here is how it grew, lost its home, and came back.

The beginning

Fresh out of massage school

At 26, pregnant with her first child, Christina opened Positive I in Chico, inspired by a wellness resort in her Monterey hometown and a dream of a renewing massage and yoga center.

2010

Paradise becomes home

In Paradise, her little studio grew into an epic dance, circus, and special-event love movement: 30 classes a week for kids and adults, and shows twice a year at the Paradise Performing Arts Center.

2018

A circus dream on Skyway

After outgrowing three locations, the family moved into a 3,800 square-foot circus warehouse. Then the Camp Fire took it.

Two months later

Hope, back open

Christina reopened from a rental house in Chico: circus classes, online workshops, and fire trauma and meditation classes, so no one had to heal alone.

Coming home

Back where it started

The circus family returned to their first studio on Skyway, a building Christina bought in 2013, and began regrowing students, teachers, and dreams.

Today

Returning to her roots

With her sister Jessica, Christina opened a sister spa on Clark Road for massage, breathwork, and sound healing, alongside self-love workshops, Goddess Circles, and retreats.

Now

A new place to fly

The Positive-i Aerial & Dance Lounge now soars at 677 Birch St, with more room to fly, right here on the Ridge, with the same circus-family heart.

“Not even a burned town can stop us from dancing, flying & creating magic.”

“Anything is possible when we believe in ourselves and our growing community. It’s up to us to put our next foot forward.” Come put yours forward with us.
